The WV Division of Forestry (WVDOF) initiated the West Virginia Timber Market Report (TMR) in 1989 for the Managed Timberland program. The purpose of the TMR is to give forest industry and private landowners an estimate for current stumpage market conditions. Likewise, it is a tool that can be used to track timber market conditions over time.

Now the Appalachian Hardwood Center (AHC) is partnering with the WVDOF to produce a quarterly stumpage report. Surveys are distributed on a quarterly basis to current operators listed with the WVDOF and consulting foresters from the database at the Appalachian Hardwood Center. If you would like to participate, please email ben.spong@mail.wvu.edu or call (304) 293-9425.

How to Use This Site

To view report data, please select a year and quarter from the pull down menu on the left.  Once a selection is made, the report will automatically be populated in the two tables below.  The reported values in BLACK text are averages stumpage prices.  The sample sizes are noted in BLUE text.  International ( ΒΌ") Scale can be approximately converted to Doyle Scale by multiplying International * 1.25.  Click here to view of map of the regions
